An Ilderton man faces charges after a vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole in Middlesex Centre during the weekend.

A vehicle left Medway Road near Richmond Street around 11:18 a.m. Sunday , entered the ditch and hit the utility pole, police said. No serious injuries were reported.

A 20-year-old man is charged with operation while impaired, failing to wear a seatbelt properly, being a novice driver with a blood-alcohol concentration above zero, and being in care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available.

The man was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Dec. 9.
