LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Among many things, the federal government shutdown could have several effects on Arkansas' Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

During a meeting on Monday, officials announced there may not be enough money for the program if the shutdown reaches next month.

The federal government allocated money to each state for its SNAP program, which is then used for the next month. This means while October is paid for, November still needs to be approved.

"Everyone who is eligible for October benefits will receive those benefits. November is questionable depending on how long the shutdown goes," Mary Franklin with the Arkansas Department of Human Services said.
