(KRON) -- Ousted San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus retired the same day the board of supervisors voted unanimously to fire her. According to the San Mateo County Employees Retirement Association, Tuesday was Corpus' last day of employment with the county.
The former sheriff's retirement was effective as of Wednesday and as a retired employee, she will be entitled to benefits, according to county officials.
Corpus was removed from office on Tuesday following a vote during a special meeting of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. Tuesday's vote followed months of scandal.
