ORONO, Maine (WABI) - On the heels of Governor Mills throwing her hat into the ring in the race for U.S. Senate, many looked ahead to a showdown between Maine political heavyweights in the form of Mills and incumbent Senator Susan Collins.

Mills has to get through the primary first.

A crowded field already got smaller when Dan Kleban dropped out and endorsed Mills almost immediately after she got in.

The candidate catching the eyes of many has been Graham Platner.

He’s been drawing large crowds on the trail and raising millions of dollars in campaign funds along the way.
