Retired Coral Springs police Chief Clyde Parry shared his experiences from the 2018 Parkland shooting with police officers, school resource officers and administrators in Allegheny County on Wednesday.

“These shootings, they're not going away. There's been many more since Parkland, and I suspect, unfortunately, there will be more in the future,” Parry said. Advertisement

Parry, a Jeannette native, responded to that scene at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14.

One of the main lessons learned was the importance of training, being prepared and having a plan in place.

“If you train, and you train enough, your training kicks in and you will respond as you've trained to," Parry said. "So, have a plan, follow your training and everything else falls into place, G
