After watching the Golden Hawks senior boys’ team win three consecutive OFSAA gold medals, the girls were ready to make history of their own. Article content Article content
“They’ve had their time to shine,” setter Sarah Davis said. “Now, it’s our turn.”
That’s what they did at the 1993 OFSAA AA championship. The Golden Hawks became the first Kent County girls’ volleyball team to strike gold.
They rolled to the title on their home court with a 12-0 set record. They capped the dominating performance with a 15-3, 15-7 win over Brockville Collegiate in the final.
