An Edinburgh-bound train was forced to evacuate after a blaze broke out.
Fire crews were called to Tamworth Railway Station at around 2.45pm on Wednesday, October 1. This came after reports of smoke on the CrossCountry service, which had left Plymouth at 10.27am.
On arrival, firefighters discovered a blaze in the engine compartment of the train. Over 200 passengers were evacuated from the train, and it was moved to a safe location.
CrossCountry apologised to passengers who endured 'significant disruption'. They also invited those who were delayed for more than 30 minutes to apply for compensation.
