Dalkeith residents are up in arms after a grouped dwelling project they claim missed its deadline to start was given an extension.

An application for a two-storey residential development comprising four dwellings at 5A and B Alexander Street in Dalkeith was first presented to the City of Nedlands in 2022.

It was initially rejected by the council in December 2022 but later approved at its June 27, 2023, meeting after an appeal to the State Administrative Tribunal.

Conditions of the council’s approval included that the development must “substantially commence” before June 27 this year.

Alexander Road residents have long fought against the development and questioned Nedlands CEO Keri Shannon at the commissioners’ October 1 meeting about an extension of its approval.
