MAINE, USA — Maine's final foliage report of the season shows the last of the state's color moving toward the coast, with most inland regions now past peak , according to the Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry.
Central and coastal Maine are nearing peak color heading into the weekend, with leaf drop ranging from 70 to 100 percent. Gale Ross, the state's fall foliage spokesperson, said this weekend offers one last good opportunity for leaf peepers.
As colder weather sets in, the coast is now the best place to see the remaining fall color. The department recommends drives along the Schoodic National Scenic Byway, Bold Coast National Scenic Byway, and Acadia All-American Road with smaller crowds late in the season.
