Once Upon a Child store temporarily closed after fire in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Once Upon A Child is temporarily closed after a fire caused significant damage to the store earlier this week.

According to the Airline Highway business, the fire started when an individual set clothing inside the store on fire. No injuries were reported, but the damage was severe enough to require cleanup and repairs before reopening.

St. George Fire Department said the fire happened before 3:50 p.m. Tuesday.

"Luckily, one of the employees at the store knew how to use an extinguisher and did a phenomenal job keeping the fire from spreading," SGFD said.

In a Tuesday statement, store management thanked the community for its support during the difficult time.
