The executive board of Commonwealth Sport has recommended Ahmedabad as the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games that will mark 100 years of the Commonwealth movement.

The board met on Wednesday and chose Ahmedabad, also known as Amdavad, over Abuja, Nigeria, which was the other interested country to host the centenary edition of the games.

A final decision will be taken during the Commonwealth Sport general assembly that will be held in Glasgow on November 26, when the board will put forward Ahmedabad's name as the host city.
