Sridhar Vembu, a standout figure in India’s tech landscape, is the founder and Chief Scientist of Zoho Corporation — the privately held, bootstrapped software firm valued at $12.5 billion, according to a February 2025 Hurun report.

Vembu has emerged as the new face of the Indian government’s drive to champion local entrepreneurship and homegrown technology.

Founded in a village in Tamil Nadu, Zoho has grown into a global technology powerhouse that builds enterprise software and web-based business tools.

Earlier this year, Vembu stepped down as CEO to take on the role of Chief Scientist, while co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davey assumed the position of Group CEO.
