Legendary former Pike County head football coach Wayne Grant is receiving another illustrious honor.
Already a Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame and AHSAA Hall of Fame inductee, Grant will have his name immortalized on Friday night at the stadium where he earned most of his career coaching victories when Pike County names its playing field in Brundidge in his honor.
The ceremony renaming the facility Wayne Grant Field at Bulldog Stadium will be held 30 minutes prior to Friday’s game against Dale County with the official unveiling of the field name at 6:50 p.m. A reception in Grant’s honor is set for 4 p.m. at the Pike County gym. All former players are encouraged to attend.
The 19th winningest coach in Alabama state history, Grant guided teams to 264 wins and six state titles over 32 years
