The Edmonton Oilers are three games into the new season, and nobody quite knows what to make of the goaltending so far.
Things started on a rocky note with Stuart Skinner allowing a bizarre game-tying goal en route to a shootout loss to the Calgary Flames. Since then, however, the goaltending has been fantastic, with Calvin Pickard allowing a single goal against the Vancouver Canucks and Skinner following up with a shutout against the New York Rangers.
It’s far too early in the year to make a definitive call on either Skinner or Pickard, but Oilers fans will finally get a first look at a third option down in the AHL. Connor Ingram, who was traded to Edmonton shortly before the season, appears to be locked and loaded to make his first start with the Bakersfield Condors.
