A popular New Orleans brunch spot is offering federal employees a free meal as they face uncertainty amid the government shutdown.
Ruby Slipper announced Tuesday that all of its locations would be giving complimentary entrées, up to $20 per meal, to diners who show a valid government-issued employee identification Monday to Friday.
The brunch chain decided to revive this limited-time offer to help ease the burden workers face without work. Ruby Slipper CEO Elizabeth McGee said that providing a meal is one small way to support federal employees as they face uncertainty.
"Delicious food has always been central to bringing people together, and we hope this gesture offers a moment of comfort for those affected," McGee said.
The restaurant chain said it served thousands of free meals
