City staff are recommending an industrial park near Highway 401 as the location for a “micro-shelter” for homeless people.
Sixty modular shelters are proposed for the city-owned property, northeast of the Max Brose Drive and Cheese Factory Road intersection – a sparsely populated area near the city’s southeastern edge.
Mayor Josh Morgan issued a strong mayor order in late September, allowing city staff to study the site. City council will have its first look at the plan at a special committee meeting Wednesday.
