The Yankees and Mets have two Gold Glove finalists apiece — sort of.
Yankees ace Max Fried is one of three pitchers up for that position’s top defensive award in the American League, while Ryan McMahon is a third-base finalist in the National League despite being traded to the Yankees from the Colorado Rockies in July.
For the Mets, catcher Luis Torrens and pitcher David Peterson are both finalists at their respective positions in the NL.
Fried, who won three Gold Gloves with the Atlanta Braves from 2020-22, led MLB pitchers with 10 defensive runs saved and 39 assists this year in his first season with the Yankees.
His competition is Jacob deGrom of the Texas Rangers and Luis Severino of A’s, neither of whom committed an error. Fried, 31, was charged with four errors.
