JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas — A 40-year-old New Jersey woman has been charged with forgery after she allegedly told a Jefferson County sheriff's deputy that she was being paid to deliver $20,200 in counterfeit cash that was found in her car.

She was on her was to Corpus Christi when she was stopped near Walden Road.

According to an affidavit obtained by 12News, Vanessa Villantoy was pulled over for a traffic violation on I-10 near Walden Road last year. The deputy became suspicious when she put on a jacket during the stop because it was 88 degrees at the time.

The deputy then discovered that she was hiding large bundles of fake U.S. bills wrapped in paper towels.
