“I’m 69 years old. I’m not getting any younger.. You know,” says Brenda Crouch, a resident at the Crossing Apartments. I need my home back. Everybody needs their home back.”
In August of this year, Chattanooga and the surrounding areas were impacted by record breaking flooding.
The Crossing Apartments in Catoosa County was just one area impacted. Because of the flooding, more than 80 percent were forced to evacuate.
Some residents were left with only a few belongings, like Crouch.
She says, “I lost everything in it, except for my husband’s ashes, my dog, myself, and my daughter’s grandfather clock.“ Crouch says the apartment was all she had.
Now, two months later, some are still without homes.
Family members of residents have had to step in and advocate for their loved ones.
