WESTFIELD, Ind. — The Westfield community is coming together to support a 16-month-old who is awaiting a heart transplant.

The Santi Strong Warrior Walk/Run for Life will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at 301 E. Columbine Ln. in Westfield.

The event is named in honor of Santiago "Santi" Banda, a toddler who contracted Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in July. Since then, he's had to have two open-heart surgeries, suffered a stroke, and continues to recover while hospitalized at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

Santi's father has temporarily relocated to Ohio to stay with him, while his mother, Rosa, remains in Westfield as she continues to work and care for the couple's two older children.
