UNION CITY, Ind. — The Union City Police Department has arrested a pair of men its officers have dubbed "hamburglars."
In a Facebook post, UCPD reported that the hamburglars broke into the freezer at the Union City Community Help Center — a nonprofit organization that sells quality used items to disadvantaged Hoosiers in the area at a discounted rate.
UCPD indicated that its investigation into the hamburglars' alleged actions began when its officers received a report that indicated a "significant" amount of meat had been stolen from the community center freezer. Police reported that the following were stolen from the freezer: • 315 pounds of hamburger and sausage • Two boxes of Wick's Pies (16 pies total) • One box of 36 hot dogs • 24 packages of bacon • 24 loaves of bread
