ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital is highlighting the often-overlooked topic of grief associated with pregnancy loss on Infant and Pregnancy Loss Remembrance Day.
Pregnancy loss affects up to one in five pregnancies, leading to significant grief for many parents. In response, UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital offers resources to support those dealing with such loss.
"We have thoughts about what society has told us, about timelines and when we should be done grieving. But really, grief knows no timeline," said Megan Reiniche, a Perinatal Nurse Navigator at UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital. "So, I think when we can connect with others who have shared experiences, it can open that and it can allow us to talk and communicate in a way maybe we can't with others."
