BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC. (WTOC) - A Beaufort County nonprofit that helps survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence will be receiving a $500,000 grant from the Department of Justice.
With the grant, Hopeful Horizons will be able to expand free legal services for survivors in the Lowcountry, including Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper counties.
The organization will be able to hire a full-time attorney, a part-time attorney, and two full-time court advocate paralegals to help provide these services.
Congresswoman Nancy Mace’s office provided a letter or support for the grant application- and advocated for the grant to be awarded to help the Lowcountry.
