SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Teachers from across Missouri are honing their culinary skills at SGC Foodservice to better prepare high school students for careers in the food service industry through the ProStart program.
Missouri ProStart Coordinator Leone Herring said the program teaches students necessary skills for success in the food service and hospitality industries.
“So as a part of their training, they take ServeSafe certification, which is food safety and sanitation, and then there’s a two-year curriculum that deals with those individuals learning about the industry, learning different cooking, learning good nutrition practices,” Herring said.
