WYTHEVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - A nonprofit is leading the charge to bring more affordable housing options to people in Wytheville.

“In Wytheville, there’s a huge need for affordable housing,” said Jordan Stidham.

Stidham is the Executive Director of a local nonprofit called Open Door Community . It helps those facing housing insecurity, from giving the homeless places to stay to helping people boost their credit to get mortgages.

“We have people who are experiencing homelessness and have been chronically homeless… We’ve seen people who work full-time jobs and they just can’t afford a rental. We’ve seen to where they will pay for a hotel for a week and then they’re homeless for a week," he said.

But Open Door Community is also helping create solutions that make affordable housing possible.
