CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department responded to a shooting that left one person injured Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of America Street near South Street at 5:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they located an adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was sent to the hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the police department at 843-720-2422 and ask for the on-duty Central Detective or submit an anonymous tip at www.charleston-sc.gov/tips.
