LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Louisville Metro Police Department says officers are making significant progress in stopping violent crime.

According to the latest data from LMPD, homicides, carjackings, and robberies are all down compared to this time last year.

First Division officers have also seized nearly 250 illegal guns this year.

"So that's from the first Division only. So just one division out of eight, here in, in our city. So this proactive policing is what is making a real impact in our violent crime, driving numbers, getting guns off the street, driving those homicides down, driving those non-fatal shootings down," said LMPD Deputy Chief Emily McKinley.
