SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) - Two candidates have thrown their hats in for a chance to be the next mayor of Sullivan County.

Zane Vanover announced his candidacy Tuesday night. Vanover has been a teacher, farmer, and county commissioner.

"I've seen the county from about every possible angle, so I can relate to about anyone in the county," Vanover said.

Vanover said if he is elected, his main priorities will be education and public safety in Sullivan County.

"All of our school systems have to provide a quality education for all of our students," Vanover said. "Once we do that, we solve a lot of other problems. We solve addiction. We solve crime. We solve so many things that in otherwise cost us a lot of money. So, we can make those people an asset to the county instead of a detriment.
