BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — Community members offered their input on a proposed trail linking the Mendota Trail to downtown Bristol, Virginia.

An open house was held on Wednesday about the proposal to connect the existing Mendota Trail parking area at I-81 to Cumberland Square Park.

It came after the city received grant funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Tobacco Revitalization Commission.

The city is working on a study about potential routes for the trail. On Tuesday, they received public input.

"It's a way of getting everybody here in one spot to look at the maps," Bristol, Virginia Community Development Director Jay Detrick said.

Detrick said there are multiple potential routes.

City hopes to have the study finished by the end of the year.
