LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Louisville homebuyers hoping to secure financial aid through the Metro Down Payment Assistance Program are expressing frustration after the program stopped accepting applications in July.

The decision to reallocate funds to other initiatives has left many aspiring homeowners in limbo.

Semetra Braxton, a hopeful homebuyer who rents her current home, began the application process in April, only to learn mid-year that the program had been paused.

"Knowing there's not a next step right now is heartbreaking," Braxton said.

The program, which offers financial support for down payments, has been instrumental for many buyers.
