A cold and blustery Wednesday evening is ahead for Massachusetts, with temperatures likely to flirt with freezing and wind chill making it feel even cooler.

The cold conditions will continue on Thursday, with temperatures in the low to mid 50s and gusting winds of 25 to 30 mph.

"The cooler air over the relatively warmer ocean will likely result in some ocean-effect showers over Cape Cod, The Islands, and perhaps sections of The South Shore beginning tomorrow afternoon," National Weather Service forecasters wrote.

The showers are expected to continue overnight Thursday, but with little moisture in the air, forecasters don’t expect any significant accumulations.
