BOISE, Idaho — The lawsuit challenging Idaho's ban on transgender athletes competing in women's sports will continue despite the plaintiff's attempt to dismiss the case, a district court ruled on Tuesday.

Lindsay Hecox, a Boise State University senior, filed a notice of dismissal in early September in federal district court under Idaho Rule 41 . Hecox, who is now the sole plaintiff in the case, said previously the case's continuation meant she was facing " negative public scrutiny " that could harm her mental health, personal safety and graduation from the university. She also filed a separate "suggestion of mootness" with the U.S. Supreme Court.
