MINNEAPOLIS — A popular Minneapolis radio station is taking the first step toward building a permanent home.
Station managers at KMOJ 89.9 FM announced plans to fundraise $17 million to build a 10,000 square foot facility near the corner of Lowry Avenue and Penn Avenue in North Minneapolis.
Station leaders held a dedication ceremony on Wednesday morning to formally announce the site of the new building.
“What we’re building here isn’t just a building, it’s a home for the voices that deserve to be heard, not marginalized. It’s a hub for our community to grow and connect,” KMOJ General Manager Freddie Bell says.
KMOJ has been a voice for the community since 1976, back when the signal could only reach a few neighborhoods in the city.
