LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Above average temperatures are in the forecast for much of the area Thursday. Friday and this weekend will be cooler. The best chances for showers and thunderstorms look to be Thursday and Friday.

Thursday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy for the eastern half of the area and partly to mostly cloudy in the western half. Cold front should move into the area and there will be a 30 to 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms in Central and Western Nebraska as well as the panhandle. The eastern third of the area likely won’t see the chance of rain until Thursday night. Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible in Western Nebraska with large hail and damaging winds the main threats. The tornado threat is very low.
