LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — The state of Nebraska held a public hearing Wednesday to gather comments on proposed rules and regulations for medical cannabis, with the emergency regulations set to expire in less than two months.
After standing in the rain, more than two dozen medical cannabis advocates had the opportunity to voice their positions on the proposed regulations, only to find no decision-makers in attendance.
“The fact that they aren’t even willing to come listen to people shows that they don’t care about what the voters intended,” Sen. John Cavanaugh said.
The advocates are calling for an end to the rigmarole of regulations and violations by the Medical Cannabis Commission, including missing the Oct. 1 deadline to issue cultivator licenses.
