Two cats were left abandoned outside in a laundry basket in Ledyard Tuesday afternoon.

Ledyard Animal Control said the cats were found on Long Cove Road between Conrad Court and the parking lot for the trails sometime between 12:30 and 3 p.m.

Animal control said the cats are vert friendly and sweet, but scared.

Officers are asking the owner to come to their office and properly sign the cats over to their care.

"We can gather all of their information, names, any vetting they have had and everything we need to know about them. We can get them into our vet and into a new home quicker that way," animal control said in a statement.
