WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. (PIX11) — A troubling trend that began on social media is now involving police in Westchester County.

Teens are using artificial intelligence to create images of strangers inside their homes and texting them to their parents as a prank.

In some cases, parents are calling 911 — fearing a home invasion.

Yonkers Police were called twice this month after parents believed an intruder was in their house.

That belief was based off of artificial intelligence generated images — showing the same made-up man being let inside different homes, by their children.

Similar pranks are happening across the country, with reactions shared on TikTok.

“We’re using AI to solve crime, and we’re in a new realm here where we’re trying to battle AI-generated crime,” said Detective Lt.
