SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Closing arguments wrapped up Wednesday afternoon in the trial of Persia Nelson, the mother accused of killing her 10-month-old baby, Halo Branton, in March 2024. According to evidence presented in court, Nelson had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend and family the evening of Halo's death.

Prosecution showed surveillance video of Nelson with baby Halo on the GE campus in Schenectady last March. She is seen placing the 10-month-old into a shed-like structure that the prosecution says opens to a large drop into shallow water. Halo was later found deceased with a head wound underneath pipes at the bottom of that hole -- evidence that shows the baby was dropped.
