WASHINGTON — A former Special Education Instructional Assistant is facing at least six counts of sexual child abuse charges in Frederick County.

On Sept. 19, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) received reports of alleged sexual abuse of a minor involving an employee identified as John McAleer. McAleer worked at Oakdale Middle School.

When the report came out, he was immediately placed on administrative leave by FCPS. During the investigation, detectives identified multiple students who reported sexual abuse by McAleer at Oakdale.

On Oct. 6, the FCSO SWAT team executed a search warrant at McAleer's home, located in the 3000 block of Basford Road. He refused to come out and barricaded himself inside his bedroom.
