VANCEBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) – The city of Vanceburg is seeing a change in leadership.
During Wednesday night’s City Council meeting, the council voted to accept Mayor Dane Blankenship’s resignation request.
The council then motioned to vote in the now former assistant police chief, Joseph Billman, as the city’s interim mayor.
That vote passed 4-2, and Billman was sworn in directly following the vote.
Billman said after he serves out the rest of this term, he has plans to run for the seat permanently.
