AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Symphony Orchestra’s Oct. 18 concert features a quartet of mysterious and thrilling scores to usher in the Halloween season.

The performance begins with Cliff Eidelman’s world premiere of “The Tempest,” which promises ample Shakespearean mystery, along with Danny Elfman’s chilling “Sleepy Hollow” and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s gothic “Isle of the Dead.” The evening culminates in a performance of Igor Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite,” which brings to life the Russian fairy tales of the Firebird and the blessing and curse it brings to its owner. The concert promises plenty of cinematic drama, according to the orchestra website.

Doors open for the concert at 7:30 p.m. at The E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, located at 198 Hill St. on the University of Akron campus. Ticket
