COLUMBUS, Ohio - An Ohio Senate committee held a first hearing Wednesday morning for a bill increasing penalties on those who barricade themselves to resist arrest – at the same time as law enforcement tried to coax a man from a barricade in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood involving an alleged shooter of a deputy U.S. marshal .
State Sen. Tom Patton said he made arguments to the Senate Judiciary Committee on the bill he is sponsoring, Senate Bill 188 , beginning at 9:45 a.m. at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
Meanwhile, in Cleveland, a man was in a barricade in a Glenville apartment building. The unnamed suspect had shot the deputy marshal at 8 a.m. and then entered the barricade. A Cuyahoga County Sheriff SWAT team arrested the suspected shooter at around 11 a.m.
