RIPLEY, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The reservoir that supplies water to homes and businesses in Ripley has become dangerously low following a recent drought, and town officials say the situation is critical.

“I think everybody's surprised. I've lived here my entire life and never heard of a water problem ever,” said Bob Bentley, manager of Meeder’s Restaurant.

Ripley's reservoir levels have become so low, the town has officially declared a State of Emergency.

“Our water is safe to drink, we are not in such a critical situation that you cannot continue to take care of your daily needs,” said Town Supervisor Lauree Pless.
