BOISE, Idaho — Project developers for one of the most significant developments the city of McCall has seen must go back to the drawing board.

The Payette Lakes Recreational Water and Sewer District unanimously rejected a request Wednesday from the Pine Creek Ranch development to connect to its sewer system, potentially derailing plans for more than 600 homes in southeast McCall.

The board voted to deny the development's petition to annex 90 acres into the district.

The proposed development would be located near the intersection of Samson Trail and Deinhard Lane and would also utilize about 68 nearby acres already part of the sewer district.

Board members raised concerns about McCall taxpayers subsidizing the private development's infrastructure costs.
