WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The City of Wichita continues to work on bringing tourists to the area as the city renews its contract with Visit Wichita for 2026.

In 2024, Visit Wichita, an organization focused on tourism and promoting events coming to the city, reported that in 2024 visitors spent about $1.5 billion.

Wichita Mayor Lily Wu said this is proof that the city’s partnership with Visit Wichita is working.

“When we have more people coming to visit our community, these are tax dollars that we can use to help more citizens in our community,” Wu said.

Sporting events have been especially strong for Wichita tourism, with events this year including the 2025 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in January and opening rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in March.
