MANCHESTER, N.H. —

As President Donald Trump defends his administration's strikes off the coast of Venezuela, he said he has authorized the CIA to explore potential land strikes in the country.

Trump provided few details on the possible operations, saying only that the move was prompted by the flow of migrants and drugs from Venezuela.

Since early September, the president has ordered military strikes on at least five boats in the Caribbean Sea. The administration says the boats were carrying drugs to the United States.

"I authorize for two reasons, really. Number one, they have emptied their prisons into the United States of America. They came in through the border," Trump said. "And the other thing of drugs. We have a lot of drugs coming in from Venezuela, and a lot of the Venezuelan
