MONTICELLO — In every loss the Bemidji High School football team has had this season, it’s come agonizingly close to flipping the result.
The Lumberjacks were one score away from tying Elk River in the season opener. They lost by just one point to Buffalo and Alexandria.
And now, they will have to think of a potential game-winning drive that wasn’t in another agonizingly close — yet, deceivingly-scored — 43-30 loss in Monticello. It is their first loss by multiple scores this season.
“We just made too many mistakes,” senior Cash Pemberton said. “We're holding ourselves back. All the flags we’re getting, all the big plays we’re letting up. If we play more sound and more assignment-steady … we’ll be dialed in and we’ll be ready to go.”
