Bengaluru police have arrested a 31-year-old doctor, Dr. Mahendra Reddy, a gastro-surgeon at Victoria Hospital, for allegedly murdering his wife, Dr. Kritika M. Reddy, a 29-year-old dermatologist. The arrest comes nearly six months after her death.

The case was registered by the Marathahalli police following a complaint from Kritika’s father, K. Munireddy. According to the complaint, the viscera report revealed that Kritika had been given a fatal overdose of the anesthesia drug propofol, allegedly administered to make her death appear natural.

Police say further investigation is underway to determine the sequence of events leading to her death and to gather additional evidence against the accused.
