BRONSON, MI — The city of Bronson benefited from the recently passed state budget, which included $609,000 in state funding to replace the aging ultraviolet disinfection system at the wastewater treatment plant.
State Rep. Jennifer Wortz of Quincy said Bronson asked for help. "We were able to successfully negotiate and secure these dollars in the final agreement," she said.
Bronson officials said the current UV system, initially installed in 1993, long surpassed its intended lifespan.
Parts for repair are increasingly difficult and expensive to obtain. A recent lightning strike disabled the control system, which is currently being operated manually.
