The Charleston County School District was awarded a near $500,000 multi-year grant to fund programs addressing the impact of the opioid crisis on students and their families.

The grant was awarded by the Public School District's Recovery Trust , which aims to help public school districts develop responses to enhance education for students harmed by the opioid epidemic.

The trust was created following national opioid litigation to ensure resources are directed to communities most affected by the crisis.
